The Judges will Be Recruited into a New System of Courts Through Public Competition - Pavlo Petrenko

About 20% of the judges refuse to re-certification. This was stated by Justice Minister Pavlo Petrenko during the Swedish-Ukrainian Business Forum, reports UNN.

"About 20% of the judges refuse to go for re-evaluation due to the fact that they could not confirm their property status, or can not prove their professional status ... Almost half of those judges who have agreed to re-certification, and do not pass it due to lack of professional level or the inability to confirm the property, "- Petrenko said.

Petrenko says that the candidates who will apply for the post of judge, will have to submit three declarations, one of which will deal with the state property of relatives with whom may be potential conflicts of interest, including those who hold public office.

"The judges will be recruited into a new system of courts through public competition, will be motivated by decent wages," - he added.
